PRECIOUS FINDINGS
When HG Contemporary’s inaugural show is a solo exhibit of acclaimed street artist RETNA’s work, you know it’s a gallery with a distinct point of view. That guiding direction comes mainly from the Chelsea gallery’s director, Philippe Hoerle-Guggenheim, who has been visiting museums since he was four years old, getting carted around the Louvre with his art-obsessed mother and internalizing her penchant for the arts.
James Murray’s personal style is all sharp lines, clean angles and lots of black and white. He’s got a perfectly coiffed hair and we’re pretty sure his eyebrows are the definition of “on fleek”. There’s an inherent air of cool that surrounds the President and Chief Publicity Officer of Supreme Publicity so it comes as no surprise that his boutique firm is currently representing some of the best emerging talent in the fashion industry today.
This year, NYFW has been a study in contrasts. From dark, gothic vibes to playful, feminine prints, each design house kept us surprised and charmed with their fresh perspectives and thoughtful presentations. Even though spring is on the way, we’re now lusting after lots of fur, sexy abstract prints and all black everything.
The second installment of New York Fashion Week: Men’s wrapped up only a few days ago on February 4th after days of presentations, runway shows and events showcasing the all the latest menswear designs for next year’s fall/winter season.
It’s easy to get caught up in the constant go-go-go of New York Fashion Week. Running from one show to the next, performing the magic quick change in the back of a cab before your first event of the night and draining your phone battery before lunchtime…
The old town, Gamla Stan, is one of Europe’s most stunning historic hubs, all storybook buildings, grand palaces and winding cobblestone streets. Just a few blocks from all this history is the uber-modern city centre, a maze of gleaming glass and skyscrapers.
Stockholm can be almost scarily intimidating, what with its citizens all with model-worthy looks and catwalk-ready fashion sense. But one peek past the perfection and you’ll find a city teeming with some of the friendliest, most creative and accessible people in the world! Stockholm as a place is just as beautiful; it’s a place as easy to explore as it is to love.
There’s no more festive way to kick off the holiday season than by spending the first week of December at Miami’s glitzy, glam and totally over-the-top Art Basel (and all its many off-shoots). You just can’t not be in the spirit when you’re partying poolside with P. Diddy at the Delano or exploring Katie Stout’s teenage-dream Bedroom Curio at Design/Miami.
